Pentecost June 9!
Pentecost is the celebration of the birthday of the Church. The story from Acts 2 tells how the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples in that closed in room. Wind, and tongues of fire were the tangible presence of the Holy Spirit, according to the scripture.
We will recognize this new season of the Church with red candles, and the retelling of the story. There may even be a birthday cake!
A tradition of the church is to wear red on this day.
